Will.i.am to boost the iPhone camera with I.am+ camera accessory

The camera on the iPhone is already pretty good, but music mogul and entrepreneur Will.i.am is planning to turn it into a “genius phone” with his new iPhone camera accessory I.am+ that is said to upgrade the iPhone camera to 14-megapixels.

Will.i.am with new iPhone camera accessory

I.am+ is an iPhone adaptor that you dock your device into (compatible with iPhone 4, 4S and iPhone 5), upgrading the camera to 14-megapixels for improved photo quality. In an interview with The Telegraph Will.i.am explained that the first product in what is expected to be a line of digital products (I can already see speaker docks and headphones coming soon) is the I.am+ camera adaptor. “We have our own sensor and a better flash” explained the star “it turns you smartphone into a genius-phone”.

The i.am+ camera accessory for the iPhone will be officially launched on the 28th November and expected to start retailing before Christmas. Price will be revealed at launch.

The star also plans to launch a special i.am domain that will allow people to share the photos they have taken with the accessory. What will be interesting to see is how much this i.am+ accessory will ad bulk to the iPhone, and can it live up to the hype.

I love that nobody cares if a lowly designer/engineer came up with this a long time ago, but if your famous all of a sudden it’s genius and everyone wants to know about it.
