This might be one for the more hardcore Apple and iPad fans out there, or those interested in product design, as Guilherme Schasipien is sharing his concept of a thinner glass back iPad 3/iPad HD.
With this concept design he has made the iPad 3 even thinner at 0.29-inches, as well as added higher-spec cameras at both the front and back, including HD facetime camera. The screen is of course a Retina display, something that might not be achieved a hundred percent even in the iPad 3 according to recent rumors.
The most interesting, and controversial feature, is the curved glass back. We have written about Apple’s investments in glass cutting machines for curved glass before. Many have raised issues with a glass back for a portable device as sizable as the iPad due to fear of glass breaking, something that has been somewhat of an issue with the iPhone 4.
We have to remember that this is a concept, and it might not have included considerations for much other than design factor, including considerations for ability to fit necessary components inside a thinner glass back device. As a design concept however i think it look great.
