This news comes on the back of earlier rumors that an 11th October event invite might be on the cards from Apple. The WSJ is citing sources within Apple’s supply chain in Asia on the rumors that production has started on the 7.85-inch iPad Mini.
Although much has been written before about Steve Jobs being against smaller tablets, rumors have flourished that Apple would extend the iPad range following the success of other smaller, low cost tablets, such as the Amazon Kindle and the Google Nexus 7. As far as what the iPad Mini might be like, expectations would be for pretty much a smaller version of the current Retina iPad, but to get the price closer to the key competitors it would be expected that certain elements would be left out.
If the iPad Mini is a reality we should know a lot more in the next few days.
