There is nothing quite like having a international superstar backing your gadgets these days, and 50 Cent seems to take his role and involvement with SMS Audio very seriously as the company has just launched their first ever portable wireless speaker in the Sync by 50 Bluetooth 4.0 aptX speaker.
Sync by 50 wireless speaker is joining a very competitive market that includes a mix of well established audio brands, newcomers, and others with celebrity backing (think Beats by Dre). While the SMS Audio headphones have been in the market for a while now, this is their first venture into the speaker market, and they seem to do so with an interesting proposition with the latest in Bluetooth technology, including aptX for improved stream quality (requires compatible device).
The tube like design of the Sync by 50 speaker is familiar, with drives firing in in what they describe as an ‘omni-directional 3D stereo sound’, soft touch controls at the top, and NFC pairing for those with NFC enabled audio devices. Built in pre-tuned 5 EQ settings allows for additional audio customization, and as mentioned, aptX enabled audio devices can take advantage of improved audio streaming compared to standard Bluetooth devices. A rechargeable lithium ion battery ensures portability, with charging done using microUSB. For wired connection, a 3.5mm audio-in is included. Currently available in shadow black finish with the blue SMS Audio logo integrated.
The Sync by 50 wireless speaker is available in shadow black from selected retailers at £169, or $199.95 in the US.
