Pioneer XW-SMA4 wireless speaker with AirPlay and wireless direct

Pioneer XW-SMA4 wireless speaker

The Pioneer XW-SMA4 speaker features the same look as the XW-SMA3, but there are some distinct differences between the models. The SMA4 does not have the splash proof outer coating that the SMA3 does, nor the built in rechargeable battery. It also differs when it comes to speaker set up, with the SMA4 featuring a 100mm dedicated subwoofer and dual 20mm tweeters, powered by triple 10W+10W+20W amplifiers for a total power output of 40W.

The speakers does however have a lot of other things in common, including the broad wireless streaming options, ranging from Airplay, HTC Connect, DLNA, to Wireless Direct technology. Like the SMA3 it also comes with a USB port for Apple devices at the back, as well as AUX input for other wired audio sources. Again, you could always combine a few of the SMA4 speakers, or even have it sit alongside the SMA3, to create a multiroom system around these Pioneer speakers.

I hope to be back with a hands on review in the near future.
