Philips have announced their first speaker docks featuring support for the new lightning connector on the latest iOS devices, including the 5th generation iPod Touch. The four new systems all have a ‘Philips familiar’ design and are said to take advantage of the lightning connector features for improved sound.
The Philips Lifestyle Music System (DCM2067) is the top model in the new range, featuring a retractable lightning dock as well as CD player and FM radio. Designed for the living room, the system provides 20W RMS power output, sitting slightly elevated from its circular base.
For the bedroom, Philips have a 360-degree designed speaker with a cl0ck display that automatically syncs with your iOS device. At the back of the system there is also a USB connection for charging a second device while one is docked.
A familiar view is the Philips Room-to-Room speaker dock (DS3205) which features high quality neodymium drivers for improved bass response and a more balanced sound picture overall.
Rounding out the new Philips Lightning speaker docks is the Portable Docking Speaker (DS7580) that is slim and compact for easy travelling, with a rechargeable battery that promises up to 8 hours of playtime. They have also been able to include their wOOx technology for a rich and deep bass.
No word yet as of UK release date for these speaker docks and what their price range might be, but I would expect to see them (or similar models) in early 2013, joining the new Lightning speaker docks from JBL.
