Kicking off a series of AirPlay news is Philips announcing the arrival of their latest AirPlay speaker in the Fidelio Primo DS9100W, the replacement to their popular Fidelio Primo DS9000 speaker dock, adding another element to an already impressive AirPlay speaker range from Philips.
The announcement of the Philips Fidelio Primo DS9100W formed part of a series of new wireless speakers in the Fidelio range, with 3 of them using Philips own streaming standard with their new dedicated AirStudio app for both Android and iOS. AirPlay is however the standard of most interest for iOS owners at the moment, and we should all be excited about Philips bringing wireless streaming to one of their best speaker docks.
With the Fidelio Primo DS9100W Philips have kept the best parts of the DS9000, including the classic Fidelio design and finish, and the speaker set up. What they have added to make the experience even better is, besides AirPlay streaming, the addition of a new digital crossover, biamping of the speakers, and a newly designed bass port.
I for one am looking for testing this new AirPlay speaker from Philips out when it becomes available in August.
