The SoundCurve speaker docks from Philips are popular with Apple device owners, and now they have brought out the first SoundCurve speaker dock that is specifically for the latest iDevice models with the new Lightning Connector; Meet the Philips DS8400/10 SoundCurve Lightning.
The DS8400/10 comes with the same classic SoundCurve design, said to deliver a very effective acoustic structure and sound reproduction. Not to mention that it is a good looking design as well, which is why this Philips range have been so popular.
In addition to adding the new Lightning dock in this new model, Philips have also added Bluetooth streaming and an integrated rechargeable battery (up to 5 hours play time between charges) to make the unit both portable and wireless. There is no AirPlay on this model, so I can only imagine that Bluetooth has been preferred to reduce cost and make it a more universial system for the many families that are not Apple exclusive. There is also Audio-in for portable music playback from any portable media player.
Audio set up of the Philips DS8400/10 includes dual 3-inch full range woofers and a rear bass reflex system for enchanced bass performance. Overall power output is set at 30W RMS. I hope to be back with a full review in the near future.
