While our Danish friends at Libratone and B&O have delivered us some high-end iPod speaker solutions over the years, including some of the best AirPlay speakers around, it is great to see more Scandinavian companies coming onto the market. The latest to join the Airplay speaker family is Nocs, a Swedish company hoping to make audio waves with their Nocs NS2 Air Monitors.
I don’t know what it is with Scandinavian technology companies, especially the ones delivering audio solutions, but they always seem to have stand-out designs, and although the Nocs NS2 Air Monitors can look like fairly standard speakers from afar, they have some interesting aspects to them. The cabinets themselves are hand-built and rubber coated, available in a variety of colors ranging from standard black, white, industrial grey, to yellow, red, and orange.
They have also focused on quality on the inside, which is the heart and soul of a speaker, by using 3-inch kevlar dual magnet woofers and 3/4-inch silk dome tweeters. Their aim is to offer both powerful sound and great durability. As for the sound, they monitor speakers are driven by Class D amp with a 70W peak power output. Once i have had a chance to go hands on i will report back on audio performance, but i have high hopes.
