No new turn-by-turn navigation for iPhone 4

One of the big new features for iOS 6 announced yesterday was the new map app with flyover and turn-by-turn navigation from Apple that will replace the current Google Maps integration. However, it has surfaced that key features will not be available to all.

Turn-by-turn navigation in new iOS 6 Map App

The millions of iPhone 4 owners out there that might have gotten excited about new map features such as flyovers and turn-by-turn navigation might change their mind as Apple is confirming that those two features will not be available for amongst other iPhone 4 owners (only for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 and new iPad).

In the same small prints on their maps page they are also stating that some features might not be available in all countries and/or areas, without going into any further specifics.

This feels very much like Apple tactics to get iPhone 4 and older model owners to upgrade to the latest versions of hardware, potentially making unlocking these features a pricy endeavour.
