October launch for Amazon music download service
By admin • Jun 24th, 2008 • Category: Lead Story, Music and itunesUpdate! The Amazon MP3 music download store is now open for business in the UK.
According to BrandRepublic, Amazon is looking to launch their MP3 music download service in the UK before October this year as executives from the US Amazon store holds meetings in London with record companies.
The Amazon MP3 download service launched in the US last year, allowing their users to download tracks that are DRM free and in mp3 format. This ensures that the songs can be played on wider range of digital music players compared with the music you buy through iTunes.
Coming on the back on news that Apple has sold over 5 billion songs through iTunes since their launch in 2003 (ipodhacks.com), Amazon is looking to get their piece of the UK download market to kickstart their international launch of their music download service.
We look forward to get another player into the market as it will improve competition and offering for us consumers.
