Monster ClarityHD Model One monitor bookshelf speakers – coming soon

Monster ClarityHD Model One bookshelf speakers

Monster has had huge success with their collaborative Beats by Dr.Dre range of products geared towards the portable music player market, and specifically iPod/iPhone owners out there, and now they are going at it solo as well with the latest new addition being the Monster ClarityHD Model One monitor bookshelf speakers.

Monster ClarityHD Model One bookshelf speakers

With the announcement of the Monster ClarityHD Model One high-definition multimedia speaker they are further enhancing their presence in a growing category of iOS related products and accessories, building on their current experience from amongst other the Beats by Dr.Dre Beatbox and the range of headphones.

The new ClarityHD Model One bookshelf speakers features a built-in high powered digital amplifier with the aim of delivering a high definition powerful sound in a relative small bookshelf speaker. They are designed to complement and improve the sound from your digital music player/library, featuring 6.5-inch bass drivers with 4-layer voice coils to provide deep low end reponses, and soft dome tweeters for smooth and articulate high frequencies.

For those of you that have seen the Libratone speakers, the design will look familiar, although the Monster ClarityHD Model One does not come with carry handle and has a different finish, but the overall shape of these bookshelf speakers are similar. The ClarityHD Model One will be available in 4 color options; yellow, black, red, and pearl white.

At the top of the Monster ClarityHD Model One speakers you will find a physical docking station for your iPod/iPhone, but it also comes with other connection options at the back, such as:

  • mini-jack input for other smartphones and digital media players
  • Balanced 1/4-inch TRS input for home studio and DJ applications
  • RCA inputs for audio and video devices
  • Streamcast port for future wireless connectivity

What it does not seem to feature is Apple AirPlay or bluetooth streaming functionality, like you will find in the Monster iClarityHD Precision micro system, although it does feature a streamcast port for future wireless streaming solutions. It is quite interesting that for a system at this price they have not added some sort of default streaming functionality.

Price and availability

According to ecoustics.com the Monster ClarityHD Model One bookshelf speakers will become available in January 2012 with a US retail price at $750, but we are wondering if they are the same as the ClarityHD Monitor speakers currently listed at amongst other Amazon UK from £600.

We are waiting on confirmation but markings at the back of the speakers listed on Amazon UK, referring to ‘model one’ should be an indication that they are one and the same.

We will be back with more information on the Monster ClarityHD Model One speakers when available, in the mean time you can check out more iPod speaker docks here.
