Libratone today announced that they are extending the wireless capabilities of their range of popular AirPlay speakers, including the new Libratone Zipp, to support streaming from amongst other Android and Windows devices as well.
The new software update brings amongst other DLNA support for compatible Android devices to sit alongside the AirPlay feature that has made the speakers so popular amongst Apple iDevice owners. It also extends their PlayDirect feature to work across their Live, Lounge, and Zipp speakers, and across platforms. PlayDirect is their version of WiFi Direct, which allows you to connect with the speakers wirelessly even when there is no available WiFi network.
This latest software update is available for free over-the-air for those that have the Libratone App. At the moment the app is only available for Apple devices, but an Android version is on its way as well.
Libratone has also announced that due to production efficiencies they are reducing the price on their Libratone Live and Libratone Lounge to £450 and £1099 respectively. The Libratone Zipp remains at its current price around £330.
