JBL On Air Airplay speaker dock revealed by FCC

Ever since Apple announced the new AirPlay functionality with the iOS 4.2 it has been rumoured that one of the providers of compatible Apple Airplay speakers would be JBL. So far there are only a handful or so compatible systems in the market so the addition of the new JBL On Air Airplay speaker dock is very welcomed.

At the moment there is not much technical details available about the JBL On Air Airplay speaker, but once the FCC have finished probing it, which from the documents looks like it will be soon, more information should become available. Given the history of the JBL iPod speaker docks we expect a high quality system that will provide a good sound experience.

The JBL On Air Wireless Airplay speaker dock features almost like a steering wheel design with the dock and an LCD screen featured in the middle part of the dock, while the outer part houses the wrap-around speakers. At the top there is a large snooze/alarm off button so it will feature alarm functionality as well. Other features include FM tuner and AUX input for non-iOS devices.

It is expected that JBL On Air Wireless will be presented at CES 2011 which takes place in Las Vegas from January 6th. We will be back with more information, reviews and prices for the system once it has been officially launched. In the meantime you can find out more about Apple Airplay speakers and devices already in the market.
