Great new applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch

If you are among the lucky ones that have got your  hands on the new 3G iPhone already, or have the original iPhone or an iPod Touch with the latest 2.0 firmware upgrade, then you might want to check out some of the following great applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Zenbe list: This to-do application from Zenbe is great of keeping track of things you need to do, and coordinate work tasks with friends, colleagues and family. You can share the task lists through email.

Associated Press: This application allows you to retrieve local news based on your location, and also allow you to share pictures you might have taken of events that AP might use in their news stories.

Slingplayer Mobile: Once this application is fully developed it could potentially allow you to watch all your tv channels you have at home also on your iPhone no matter where in the world you are, as long as the streaming of the signal is strong enough.

Loopt: This great social network application for the iPhone and iPod Touch allows you to see where your friends are on a map, thanks to the GPS functionality of the iPhone.

Whrrl: A mobile social network allowing you to share your opinions with friends and the network on everything from restaurants to shops in your local area.

Kooaba: Want to find more information about a movie but too lazy to type anything into the browser? Well, this application allows you to take a photo of the poster and immediately gives you information about the movie using visual recognition.

Twitterific: A must have for all Twitter fans out there.

IM+ for Skype: Enabling voice and text communication with other skype users through your iPhone or iPod Touch. Using Skype Out for making calls.

Games for iPhone and iPod Touch

Super Monkey Ball: This game from Sega is great! It utilizes the iPhone and iPod Touch built in accelerometer to move the character around the screen. This game will cost you $9.99 at the application store.

Applications for professionals

Modality: Great application for medical students etc. filled with anatomy drawings and images that are linked to more information from Wikipedia and Google.

MiMvista: Tool for doctors and medical professionals allowing them to see CT scans and PET scans on their iPhone.

Quickoffice: Working on technology to allow you to edit and sync your Word, excel and powerpoint documents between your iPhone and your desktop. This application might not be available until later this year or early next year.
