It is very likely that we are now just weeks away from Apple holding their annual iPod event, and more importantly, the launch of a new range of iPod’s, including the much rumoured 4th generation iPod Touch.
John Gruber of Daring Fireball has previously been very accurate in his announcement, and now he has talked about the iPod Touch 4 featuring Retina display and dual camera, including a front facing one for facetime, and that it will hit the markets in September.
There is nothing new in rumours about iPod Touch 4 featuring both Retina display or that it will a dual camera, as this has been discussed ever since it was announced for the new iPhone 4. It is more the source that now makes the credibility behind the rumours a bit more reliable.
It will also be interesting to see if Apple gives the new iPod Touch 4 a 1GHz Apple A4 processor, like the one in the Apple iPad.
Other news to look forward to when Apple announces their september event, besides the new iPod Touch 4, is likely to be a new iPod Nano, a possible new touchscreen iPod Shuffle, a simplified version of the Apple TV renamed to iTV running iPhone 4 hardware and ability to run applications on the tv.
There is also talk about cloud based streaming service for iTunes.
The more optimistic are also talking about Apple perhaps releasing a 7 inch Apple iPad, perhaps called the Apple iPad Mini.
