Zeppelin Mini - same sound in a smaller package
By admin • Oct 1st, 2009 • Category: iPod Speaker DocksBowers and Wilkins that delivered the award winning and legendary iPod speaker system known as the Zeppelin have now packed the same sound experience into a smaller package, delivering the Zeppelin Mini to iPod audiophiles around the world in October 2009 (release might vary by location).
I have had the pleasure of listening to the original B&W Zeppelin, which is best a great sound experience and a beautiful designed sound system, so if the Zeppelin Mini lives up to what Bowers and Wilkins claims - small sounds beautiful - then we should be in for a treat. I know i can’t wait to get a chance to test the Zeppelin Mini, but until then we thought we would share some background information about it.

The Zeppelin Mini is reported to have all the great quality of its big brother, the Zeppelin, including advanced acoustic technology and elegant connectivity. Design wise it does look a bit different, and perhaps on first look it is not as unique in its design as the original Zeppelin, but i have a feeling that it will look better live than on the pictures.
The Zeppelin Mini incorporates all the years of experience in delivering quality sound that Bowers and Wilkins have, including its digital signal processing that optimizes the response of each drive unit, or as they explain it themselves, its like a fine tuned orchestra. The Zeppelin Mini’s flowport also allows the best possible bass experience from such a small unit through increasing the much important air flow that gives that quality bass sound.
The Zeppelin Mini also features USB digital connection, a technology that ensures your music keeps its digital quality signal, unlike many other iPod sound systems that will take the digital music on your iPod or iPhone and convert it to analogue format, meaning some of the enhanced digital quality will get lost.
For those of us that have the iPhone, the Zeppelin Mini is fully compatible with both the first generation, the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS.
As we said earlier, it is reported to hit the US and UK market in October 2009 retailing at $399 and £299 from John Lewis. We will be back with a full review once we have had a chance to test the Zeppelin Mini.
