Do you love the style of the Soundfreaq Sound Platform, but miss having a more portable system that can run on a rechargeable battery? Then you should check out their new Soundfreaq SFQ-02IRB Sound Step rechargeable speaker dock.
There are many similarities between the original model and the new one, with the exception being that it has been reduced in size to be more portable, and lower priced. With the Soundfreaq Sound Step recharge you still get the same iconic square design with a base that features the physical 30-pin docking station itself. Yes, you can dock your iOS/iPod device, including your Apple iPad 2, as well as stream your music wirelessly using the built in bluetooth support, which makes the Soundfreaq Sound Step Recharge more than just an iPod speaker dock.
With its sturdy build and shape the Soundfreaq Sound Step is quite versatile in its use. You can for example place it under your PC monitor, or even place it under you television (don’t know how smart that is as no information about how much weight it can take). If you got a decent size nightstand you can use it there, or place it on the kitchen counter or bookshelf.
Other nifty features of the Soundfreaq Sound Step Recharge includes the USB power jack which will allow you to charge more than one device at the time (dock your iPad and connect your iPhone to USB for example). There is built in FM radio, which can be controlled through the complimentary Soundfreaq App. The battery life is reported to be around 6-hours per charge.
Inside the Soundfreaq SFQ-02IRB Sound Step Recharge you will find 2.1 channel speakers; 2 x 2-inch and one 3-inch driver, supported by acoustically tuned chamber and UQ3 spatial enhancement processor. I have not tested the system hands on in terms of sound performance yet, but if it performs anywhere near its big brother than audio is pretty good.
I will be back with a full review and rating as soon as possible.
