iHome goes full blast with new iHome iP1 iPod speaker dock
By admin • Aug 12th, 2009 • Category: iPod Speaker DocksThe iHome iP1 featuring the already much talked about Bongiovi acoustics technology will soon be available at our favourite online retailers, but it is already creating quite the buzz online days after being announced to the media.
As one of the market leaders in the iPod speaker dock category, iHome has decided to enter into competition with the likes of Bose Sounddock and B&W Zeppelin with their latest iPod speaker dock. The iHome iP1 is the first in line from their new Studio Series which features the new Bongiovi Acoustics Digital Power Station technology, claimed to have a processor that scans the music on file and improves on any deficiencies across the audio frequency spectrum. The idea behind this is to restore the sound to become closer to what the artists originally intended.

Design wise the iHome iP1 speaker dock looks quite stylish, especially with the see-through plate holding the woofer and tweeters in place, creating a very nice backdrop for the iPod/iPhone dock itself. Looking at the iP1 straight from the front it does actually remind me slightly of Wall-E!
Although I have not had the pleasure of testing the iHome iP1 as of yet (hint iHome!), the specifications of the system looks interesting, featuring the DPS technology combined with two 4″ woofers and 1″ silk dome tweeters, providing a total sound output of 100 watts, enough to give you a powerful sound experience at home. As for the quality of the sound and the actual effect of the DPS technology, we will have to test it before we can make any comments, but would love to hear from any of you that have got your hands on the iHome iP1 already and would like to share your experience.
For our readers in the US the iHome iP1 is currently available to purchase at Amazon.com at a retail price of about $249.97. In the UK the iHome iP1 is available through Amazon (PurelyGadgets) at £239.95
