I have to admit that the first time i saw this new iPod speaker dock from Edifier i was thinking what an interesting design. The Edifier IF500 Luna 5 is certainly interesting and unique compared to most other iPod speaker docks in the market at the moment – whether better or worse will most likely be down to personal preference.
Since i am yet to have a chance to test the actual funtionality and sound of the Edifier IF500 Luna 5, this is purely an explanation of the features of this speaker dock, and my personal opinions when it comes to the actual design and look of the all-in-one iPod speaker dock. Hopefully i will be able to come back with an update in the near future of the actual sound experience of this unique speaker dock.
The Edifier IF500 Luna 5 with its unique shape and design definitely catches the eye, but it also seems to pack a strong quality sound package, featuring a five-driver speaker system that incorporates vibration and resonance control technologies, combined with low-frequency porting and mid-range tuned cavities. This combination is claimed to bring a smoother and cleaner audio experience. Here are some of the other technical specs of the Edifier IF500:
- Signal to noise rate of 85dBA
- RMS 10wx2 and 32w subwoofer
- 5.75 inches magentically shielded bass driver
- 2.75 inches magnetically shielded midrange driver
The Edifier IF500 is compatible with most iPod models and the iPhone, and it comes with digital FM radio.
