If you have been looking for a new iPod speaker dock or perhaps some new speakers for your iPhone, then i am sure you have come across the name Altec Lansing, a well know producer of digital audio systems that in the last years have delivered such iPod speaker docks as the inMotion iM600 and the T612 which is fully iPhone compatible.

Unlike some other iPod speaker dock producers, Altec Lansing has focused on the portable market, delivering lightweights audio systems that are user friendly and easy to take with you to the office, holiday, or even to the park on a nice summer day. But don’t think of lightweight and portable as a sign of inferior sound quality as the Altec Lansing systems that i have had a chance to listen to have delivered a good sound for their size and price.

One of the flagship iPod speaker docks from Altec Lansing has been the inMotion iM600. With its lighweight and stylish design it comes packed with functionality, including up to 7 hour playtime from the rechargeable Li-ion battery, remote control, compatible with alarm clock functionality of hte iPod, FM radio, input jacks, and on top of it all it only weighs in at 2.1 pounds (0.9kg) making it light enough to bring to most occassions. The Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 is compatible with most known iPod models, including the latest iPod Touch 2G and the iPod Nano 4G. The inMotion iM600 is available at Amazon UK for £80, reduced from £100 at the moment.

Altec Lansing can also pride themselves in having delivered the first ‘Works with iPhone’ compatible speaker dock in the T612. The beauty of this system for iPhone users is that it does not get any interference from the mobile network when the iPhone is docked into the system and plays music. Not only that, but when you receive a call the music automatically mutes down so you can answer the phone call. The T612 is also wall mountable should you wish to make it a more permanent fixture in your room, or you can take advantage of its light weight at and keep it with you wherever you go.  The Altec Lansing T612 is available from Amazon UK for £135 today.

The version that might be the next big thing from Altec Lansing is the inMotion MAX which is both iPod and iPhone compatible evolving the best from the inMotion iM600 and the T612 into a new breed of speaker dock. According to Altec Lansing own website, the inMotion Max comes packed with great features, such as crystal clear sound through the precision matched speakers, a powerful bass without the need for a big subwoofer, a rechargeable battery bringing up to 3.5 hours of play time, and of course it once again is interference free so you can enjoy this system without worrying about missing those important calls by putting your iPhone into flight mode.
