Safe for pacemaker patients to use the Apple ipod
By admin • Mar 30th, 2008 • Category: Apple iPodA recent study proves that the Apple ipod and other mp3 players do not interfere with a persons pacemaker, thereby contradicting a study from last year indicating that emissions from ipods are harmful for people with pacemakers.
The study involved 51 patients with active pacemakers or implanted cardioverter-defibrillators, with an average age of 22 years. The researchers played four different types of digital music directly over the patients pacemaker or ICD with results concluding that there was no risk for the patients.
The researchers however suggested that patients should not use digital music players while a doctor is reprogramming their hear device as the digital players can interfere with the computerized device.
This research was published in the April issue of Heart Rythm.
