Apple has before held ipod related events in the third quarter, launching model updates and new models. Rumour now is that the same might happen again, and that we might see a new and updated ipod touch, nano, or both.
The rumour comes from information that Wolfson, a high end chipmaker notified their shareholders that it has not been selected by a major customer to be included in their next generation of portable media players expected to be launched during the third quarter. And there is probably no surprise that the customer we are talking about is Apple.
The Apple ipod events launching new models has usually taken place during September of each year, and last year saw the launch of the ipod touch.
