London Marathon considering ban on ipod
By admin • Mar 30th, 2008 • Category: Apple iPodThe big buzz in the world of marathon running leading up to the London marathon seems to be whether or not to allow the use of Apple ipod and earbuds in the race.
In America there is already a rule in place baring runners from using mp3 players like the ipod, considering a distraction that interferes with the runners safety. The IAAF Road Running Commission is meeting in Rio to discuss this, but the organizers in London says it is a rule they are not looking to enforce as it will be close to impossible to enforce. The reason for the ban in the US is apparently for insurance reasons, with the arrangers liability insurance increasing when users are running with ipods.
I wonder what impact this will have on people using the ipod at the gym and on the treadmill? I guess insurance companies are always looking for new ways to charge more from people on their insurance!
