Tv comes to iPod Touch and iPhone with Joost application
By admin • Dec 26th, 2008 • Category: Apple iPod, Third party applicationsThe web video service Joost, brainchild of the people behind Skype and Kazaa, is the latest application to be launched for the iPhone and iPod Touch delivering tv shows and other tv entertainment over Wi-Fi.
Joost sees the 10 million and growing strong iPhone public as their chance to make a big comback after their web tv service did not quite take off. Since then they have taken on board the publics lack of interest in downloading programmes to their computers to watch tv shows online, responding to other services like Hulu and Veoh to make web-based services instead.
With the launch of the Joost iPhone application for iPod Touch and iPhone they have gained an advantage over their competitors by being the first of their kind in this growing and lucrative market.
At the moment Joost will allow you to watch some of your favourite tv shows from networks like CBS, Comedy Central, Warner Bros, and Sony at no charge through the Joost iPhone application and through their web service. They are also in talk with other networks to make sure they will be in a position to offer all iPhone and iPod Touch users more access to our favourite tv shows when connected through a wifi connection.
Before the launch of the Joost iPhone app the only way you could watch tv shows on your iPhone/iPod Touch was to buy episodes through iTunes, a service that is reported to have sold more than 200 million tv episodes in the past 2 years, showing the amazing potential of this market.
You can read more and download the Joost iPhone application from iTunes for free. Also check out some of the other great new applications for the iPhone/iPod Touch.
