iPod shortage in the lead up to Christmas
By admin • Dec 3rd, 2008 • Category: Apple iPodIn the last few days several online sources have reported on a shortage of iPod models in the US market following news that leading retailer Amazon.com ran out of stock of several iPod models during the black friday event last week.
It has long been rumoured that Apple has had their focus on the Mac and the iPhone leading up to Christmas this year, and that expected sales and demand for the iPod would be lower following the credit crunch and reports on people spending less leading up to Christmas this year. However it now seems that the demand for the iPod is actually holding up better than what even Apple was expecting, with reports of more retailers in the US running short on stock of some of the most popular iPod models, such as the new 2nd generation iPod Touch.
Following these news market analysts have grown in confidence that Apple will be closer to their target iPod sales for December than perhaps expected.
Our own research here in the UK checking iPod prices and availability from leading online retailers such as Amazon.co.uk, Dixons and Currys indicate that there is no immediate shortage of iPod models in the UK market, however this could change as we get closer to Christmas.
You can check prices and availability on all iPod models in our best price iPod table here.
