The new iOS 4.1 has been available for developers to test on the iPhone 4 for a while now, but new reports indicate that Apple is also testing the new iOS 4.1 on the new iPod Touch 4, expected to be launched in September, as well as on a new updated Apple iPad and another mystery device.

iPod Touch 4 is pretty much a reality by now, although we are yet to hear anything from Apple as to what the new 4th generation iPod Touch will feature (will it get two cameras for example). Although the iPad Mini, or a smaller 7 inch screen iPad, has been in the rumour mill for the last few weeks, the reference to the iProd 2,1 is another sign that an upgrade to the Apple iPad could be just around the corner.
Good news is that if Apple follows their normal release schedule we should see the new iOS 4.1 be released together with the new iPod Touch 4 this September. Hopefully the iOS 4.1 will also fix some of the issues with the current iOS 4, including the Nike+ issues that a lot of users have experienced.
As for the mystery device we could be talking about the Apple TV / iTV, or it could be related to the new mini touchscreen device that could be a touchscreen shuffle replacement.
September could definitely be an interesting month for all Apple fans.
