Bowers & Wilkins with plans for smaller and cheaper Zeppelin speaker dock
By admin • Mar 28th, 2009 • Category: Apple iPod, iPod Speaker DocksLegendary producers of sound systems Bowers & Wilkins who gave us the stylish and powerful Zeppelin, that is every iPod owners wet dream, are according to sources planning to develop a smaller version of their legendary Zeppelin, a baby Zeppelin as some might refer it as.

The B&W Zeppelin has become one of the most sought after iPod speaker docks of its time, combining unbeaten style with the quality of sound that you come to expect from hifi specialist B&W. However the price point of close to £400 has made it a dream for most iPod owners who have had to settle for other speaker docks in a more affordable price range.
Together with the Focal XS iPod sound system, the B&W Zeppelin is probably the best sounding system that i have had a chance to dock my iPod in, and combined with the unique design it is truly the Rolls Royce of iPod sound systems. The news that they are now preparing to launch a baby Zeppelin that will most likely have a lower price point is good news for most iPod owners and design enthusiasts, given that they are able to provide the same quality of sound and design in the smaller version.
As the price point might be a bit too high for most people to buy the original B&W Zeppelin, the launch of a budget version could open up a potential new market for B&W, but they have to be prepared to fight for market position as there are tough competition in the mid-range iPod sound system market, with some good quality iPod sound systems available.
I look forward to see what B&W comes up with next and what the baby Zeppelin will look and sound like, but for now the best idea is probably to keep saving a bit every month to afford the real thing.
