O2 and Carphone Warehouse to offer 3G iPhone for free
By admin • Jun 11th, 2008 • Category: iPhoneAccording to a news story from BrandRepublic, O2 and Carphone Warehouse will be offering the 3G iPhone for free to users on high cost tariffs. This confirms earlier rumours about the pricing of the new 3G iPhone in the UK as O2 and Carphone Warehouse will be offering the following deals on the new iPhone:
- 8gb 3G iPhone - £99 on a £30 monthly tariff - Free on tariffs from £45 and upwards.
- 16gb 3G iPhone - £159 on the £30 monthly tariff - Free on tariffs from £75 and upwards.
The article does not mention the length of the contract, but assuming they will follow the lead from their US counterparts, in which case we are probably looking at an 18-24 month contract. It has also been mentioned before that it might be available on Pay-as-you-go plan, but no word yet on when this will be offered and what price there will be on the iPhone.
In a measure to combat people unlocking the new 3G iPhone for use on other networks, the iPhone will now have to be activated in the store itself.
The new 3G iPhone should be available from O2 and Carphone Warehouse on the 11th of July, so only a month left to wait!
