Google voice search comes to iPhone
By admin • Nov 18th, 2008 • Category: Third party applications, iPhoneThe update to the Google mobile application for the iPhone and iPod Touch featuring voice search has been much talked about over the last week, and now it is finally here and available for downloading at the Apple Application Store.
The launch of Google voice search for iPhone was expected last week, but as many other applications have experienced, getting past the Apple approval board can be tough and take some time, even when you are Google. But i guess it is like they say; good things are worth waiting for.
Once you have downloaded the updated Google application you will need to activate the voice search in the settings. At the moment it only does english, and prefers an American accent, so for our readers in England you might have to adjust your accent!
What is also interesting about the new Google voice search is that it will take advantage of the iPhone location based technology to deliver you local results when found applicable.
There is some bad news for owners of the 2nd generation iPod Touch though, as Google voice search is only available for the iPhone, meaning you can’t use the mic headset for iPod Touch to use voice search. We hope that this is just a small miss from Google and that they will fix this in their next release.
Other applications from Google we recommend testing is Google Earth for iPhone.
