The new year has barely got its eyes open before the rumours around the next gen iPhone starts circulation, giving us a clear indication that not much have changed in the Apple rumor mill.
The first set of rumours are around iOS 7 and the next generation iPhone being the iPhone 6 and not a 5S. This is based on information found by developers in app usage logs. In the logs there are references to ‘iPhone6,1′ running iOS 7. There is not much else to tell really about this, other than that it is an indication that the next generation iPhone will be a full number higher, and not just a minor upgrade.
That said, soon after the rumours started about the iPhone 5S potentially coming in June 2013 with more color options and two screensizes. These predictions are made by Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White in a note to investors, explaining that he sees a big upside to the Apple stock price in 2013 after a difficult end to 2012.
It looks like his predictions are based on the strong start for the iPad Mini which took the iPad range to two different screensizes. Combine that with the color options for the new generation iPod Touch and voila we might have an iPhone 5S in two different screensizes and with some added color. While still only speculations as far as we know, it might not be that farfetched considering we already have two different screensizes for the current iPhone range (5 and 4S), and adding more color options could further improve Apple’s marketshare in the teen market.
