iPhone 3GS on Orange UK from 10th November

It has been announced today that Orange UK will start selling the iPhone 3GS and 3G to their UK customers from the 10th November, the day after the O2 exclusive two year contract with Apple expires.

Only a month ago the iPhone on Orange was announced after an agreement with Apple to become the second network in the UK to feature the iPhone, breaking the stronghold that O2 has enjoyed for nearly two years now. The announcement was welcomed in the mobile market as we finally saw the opportunity for increased price competition on the popular iPhone.

Less than 24 hours after the Orange announcement, another UK network could announce a deal with Apple as well, with the iPhone on Vodafone expected in early 2010 making it a 3 way race for the lucrative UK iPhone customers.

With Orange now announcing the iPhone 3GS to be sold before Christmas we can expect tough competition between themselves and O2 leading up to Christmas as the iPhone 3GS is very much expected to be a hot wishlist item this season. At the moment there is no further information on price points and plans for the iPhone on Orange, but it will be available through Orange stores and online, as well as through their partner Phones4u and Dial-a-Phone, and Carphone Warehouse which currently is the only independent retailer selling the iPhone in the UK.

We will be back with more information and price plans as soon as they are released. In the mean time you can check out our iPhone 3GS UK buying guide.
