iOS 5 and iCloud to be announced by Steve Jobs at WWDC keynote

Apple has today confirmed that Steve Jobs will be taking the stage at the WWDC keynote on June 6th, and that both iOS 5 and iCloud will be on the agenda together with Mac OS X Lion.

Apple WWDC 2011

According to the press release from Cupertino these three items will be the highlight of the keynote, although you never know if Steve Jobs is holding an ace up his sleeve to surprise us all with, such as the iPhone 4S.

It was widely expected that Apple would at least present the next generation mobile operating system version in iOS 5 at WWDC so that one has been confirmed. One of the many expected new features of iOS 5 was support of the iCloud, which Apple has now also confirmed, although in the press release they say ‘upcoming cloud services offering’. Could that be an indication that we might still have to wait a bit longer before the iCloud becomes widely available?

I’m sure it will be a busy keynote with lots of new information and presentations of iOS 5 features, the iCloud, and of course Lion update for Macs.

We will be following the WWDC remotely, bringing you the latest news and information from the event.
