With Apple expecting to launch the new iPhone iOS 4.2 in November this year for all iOS devices, including the Apple iPad and the iPod Touch 4, we got a sneak preview of some of the features at the Music and iPod event in early September, but here are some additional features that have popped up.
Some of the key features that was revealed at the iPod event was AirPlay and wireless printing, but some other, perhaps smaller new features include:
Individual text tones
It looks like Apple has also started chipping away at some of the missing features that have been bugging a lot of users, one of them being able to set individual text tones for people in your contact list. So far it does not look like you can create custom text tones, although we have not yet been able to check if you can tweak text tones just like with creating custom iPhone ringtones using iTunes.
Facetime in text app and thumbs up for YouTube
In the new iOS 4.2 you will find a Facetime button in the message app, allowing you to directly go from a text message to talking to someone using Facetime – not what we could a big improvement, but an improvement either way.
The YouTube app is also getting a new feature in the ability for users to give a thumbs up or thumbs down to individual videos, and to see an aggregated rating from all users for that spesific video.
We will continue to update this story with all the latest news and features around the coming iOS 4.2 for Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.
