iHome iW1 features

Besides of course featuring the new Apple Airplay technology allowing for wireless streaming of music, video, and photos etc over wi-fi connection, the new iW1 also has some other great features.

The iHome iW1 will come with a rechargeable lithium ion battery that will provide hours of music enjoyment between charges, also making the iW1 a fairly portable system. Charging is also simple as the speaker itself docks with a charging station.

Inside the iHome iW1 you will find their Bongiovi Acoustics DPS with specially tuned woofers and tweeters powered by an efficient Class-D amplifier. There are two 3-inch woofers and two 1-inch high-efficiency tweeters to provide a full range audio experience.

Should you feel the need to charge your iPod or iPhone while listening to music you can also use the USB connection at the back of the speaker to connect either to a charging dock or directly to the iPod/iPhone through the USB connection cable.

Like with Sonos Zoneplayer S5 you can also use the iHome iW1 to create a multi-room sound system by connecting several of the systems together and control the music on each individual or all together at once, thereby creating a true home sound system.

The iHome iW1 is of course also app enhanced as it works with the iHome+apps, allowing for easy network setup and control of the speakers. You can also use the free Apple Remote App to control the music from your iTunes library on your mac or computer.

Why not use bluetooth? The airplay technology is going to be used for iTunes as well. I can run a playlist off my computer to speakers that are out of bluetooth range using my wireless network.
