House of Marley stays eco-friendly with new product range at CES 2013

House of Marley Get Up Stand Up bluetooth speaker

While the critics may think that launching a range of audio accessories and other products in the name of the great Bob Marley is selling out, I believe that House of Marley is one of a few brands in this market that are actually trying to make a difference, both through their charitable donations and a focus on sustainable materials in their product range. After launching a range of headphones and speaker docks at last year CES, they are back again this year with an extended product family, including some new headphones, bluetooth speakers, watches, and bags.

This year they have taken some of their bestselling speaker dock models and created versions focused on wireless streaming using bluetooth technology. Among the speakers that are now available as bluetooth models are the Bag of Riddim (January availability $400), the ultra portable Chant speaker (January availability $100), the Get up Stand up home speaker (Q2 availability $350), and the all new Roots Rock Portable bluetooth speaker (Q1 availability $200), which features built-in rechargeable battery, 3.5mm aux in, sides made from bamboo and a recycled plastic enclosure. Like most other products in the new House of Marley range it features the new REWINDTM fabric cover.

The same focus on using earth-friendly and recyclable materials have been taken into their headphone range as well. Some of the new models coming out this year (some are already available in US) includes the high-end Legend in-ear headphones ($200), the Rise-Up over-ear headphones ($160), the Riddim on-ear headphones ($160), the Harambe on-ear headphones ($60), the Buffalo Soldier on-ear headphones ($100), and coming later this year, the Liberate on-ear headphones (Q3 $100).

Personally I really look forward to giving the new Legend in-ear model and the Rise-Up over-ear model a try in the coming months.

The new House of Marley products

The company is also moving into other product areas with a range of watches and bags that also encompasses their ethos of eco-conscious and earth-friendly social values. You can find out a lot more about their bag and watch range from www.houseofmarley.com.

In addition to the above products, the House of Marley One Foundation airplay speaker is also set for release in Q3 of this year with an expected retail price around $800.

I hope to be back with more detailed information on the different House of Marley products in the coming weeks and months.
