It has been a few months since we wrote about the great new features brought by the new iPhone OS 3.0 for the iPhone and iPod Touch, and today the upgrade is finally available to download through iTunes, and i’m even going to upgrade my iPod Touch despite the charge.
The iPhone OS 3.0 upgrade will be free for iPhone owners, while iPod Touch owners will have to pay around $10 for the upgrade that brings lot of new features to the iPhone and iPod Touch.
You can read more about the new features of the iPhone OS 3.0 here, but some of the top features are:
- MMS MultiMediaMessaging
- System wide search
- Copy and paste functionality
- In-app micropayments
- Improved GPS
- Push notificiations
- Improved P2P networking
- 3G tethering
- Landscape keyboard
- send and receive files
For those of us with an iPod Touch the OS upgrade will also release the hidden bluetooth functionality of the iPod Touch.
To upgrade follow these simple steps:
- Open up iTunes 8
- Connect your iPhone or iPod Touch
- In the summary panel, click on check for upgrades
- Click download and install – the rest does itself!
Good luck and enjoy the new features!
