The radio industry in the UK are getting ready for their biggest push of digital radio in the lead up to Christmas, hoping that the digital radio take up will accelerate ahead of the 2015 switchover target here in the UK.
There is already an increasing interest in DAB radio docks for iPod and iPhone in the market, and a big promotional push from the digital radio industry is likely to increase awareness and demand for the DAB radio docks.
Backed by the BBC and commercial radio chiefs the message is that “digital radio gives you more of what you love about radio”, focusing on digital radio providing additional content and features that current radio formats does not support. The adverst will feature comedians David Mitchell, Arthur Smith, Hugh Dennis, and Sue Perkins, and will run across commercial and BBC radio stations from 22nd November 2010.
It is Digital Radio UK, the body that is set to encourage switchover to digital radio that sits behind the campaign, hoping that this push will ensure they reach the target of half of radio listening being over digital radio by 2015 as per the Digital Radio Action Plan.
