Denon & Marantz with free AirPlay upgrades until end of 2011

Both Denon and Marantz have systems in the market that are capable of supporting AirPlay streaming, but does not come with it as default installed. For some time it has been possible to upgrade these systems through a firmware ugprade that they have charged their customers for (around £30), but now they are offering the upgrade for free for the rest of 2011.

Denon CEOL RCD-N7 network music systemThe popularity of AirPlay technology amongst audio brands seem to be increasing by the day, not only for Airplay speakers, but also integrated into other AV products, including Airplay AV receivers. Denon and Marantz, together with Pioneer, are in the forefront when it comes to delivering AirPlay streaming through their AV solutions.

Both companies have a selection of products that comes with Airplay technology pre-installed, but for some of their older models you require a firmware upgrade that can be downloaded from their respective websites (see below). The systems that can now be upgraded for free to support Airplay include:

Denon: AVR-A100, AVR-4311, AVR-311, and the CEOL RCD-N7 mini system / CEOL NOIR Airplay system.

Marantz: Melody Media MCR603, NA7004, AV7005, and SR7005.

The upgrade process can be done online from the comfort of your own home, no need to take it into a shop. All you need is to have your device connected to the internet, have your serial number and MAC address to hand, and go to the following respective websites for upgrade guides:
