Denon Envaya joins the portable bluetooth speaker race with bluetooth aptX

Denon Envaya bluetooth aptX speaker

Denon has delivered some high quality wireless speakers over recent years, including the AirPlay enabled Cocoon and the Denon Ceol mini hifi systems, but they have been primiarly focused on sound systems for home use. With the launch of the Envaya they are setting their sights on the fast growing mobile portable speaker market, but keeping the focus on delivering Denon quality sound.

The Denon Envaya has a flat, curved, square pebble like shape, meaning it can lie down flat with the sound firing upwards, or you can use the built in flipstand to have the sound fire more towards you, ideal for standing on a table or other flat stable surfaces. The front grill of the Envaya is detachable, allowing you to replace the front with a different colored grill should you so wish. Tactile buttons along the top of the speaker allows for easy power on/off, volume control and bluetooth function. Since the speaker is NFC enabled, pairing from compatible devices can be as easy as single tap.

To ensure a best possible mobile experience, Denon has included a rechargeable battery that allows for up to 10 hours of play time between charges. Should you find yourself running out of battery on your mobile, you can also connect it to the Envaya through its USB port to charge. This will of course impact on your operating time, but a useful feature given how notoriously battery hungry mobile devices can be these days.

Denon Envaya

Sound performance from a small portable wireless speaker can often be a question mark. To allow for best possible performance Denon has included Bluetooth aptX technology for the Envaya, allowing compatible devices to stream with CD quality to the Envaya. Having tested other Bluetooth aptX portable speakers, I can say that it does make a difference to the audio experience as long as the original audio file is of a good quality.

I’m hoping to review the Denon Envaya in the near future, so keep checking back for updates.
