The Creative D100 is a small and portable bluetooth speaker solution for those that likes to take their music on the go and perhaps have a fear of wires.
Design, features & sound
The beauty of a bluetooth speaker is that unlike the Apple AirPlay technology, you can stream music to it from any bluetooth enabled device, which means it will play nicely with pretty much any mobile music device out there at the moment.
Creative D100 is not the smallest of portable bluetooth speakers out there, but it is still small enough to easily fit in a bag for a day in the park, or just to take to the back garden for those sunny days and party nights. The plastic moulded body build feels quite sturdy and the cloth like front grill combined with the overall shape makes the D100 look like many centre-channel speakers that form part of a home entertainment system.
Measuring in at 336 x 115 x 115 mm it is not the smallest of units, and with a weight of 1kg without batteries it is not the lightest, but on the inside you will find dual 3-inch drivers that provides a decent sound for a bluetooth speaker.
The D100 can operate on both AC power as well as 4 AA batteries, providing a playback time of about 20-hours. Personally, i always prefer for a portable system to have rechargeable battery, but then again it often comes down to price.
Sound wise don’t expect the D100 to blow your mind, after all it is a bluetooth based system so there will be a certain loss of sound quality. On the positive side the system does provide a decent balanced sound, but like most systems in its class, it is lacking a bit on the bass department (at least for my personal preference).
The Creative D100 is available in four color options; black, blue, pink and fluorescent green, and supports any bluetooth 2.1 device with A2DP/AVRCP profile.
