Bowers & Wilkins have been pleasing the ears of Apple owners with high quality audio devices for years now, including the likes of B&W Zeppelin Air and the B&W P5 headphones. The latest product to join the portfolio is their first ever over-ear headphones in the B&W P7.
Those familiar with the P5 and P3 headphones from Bowers & Wilkins will recognize the design, as the new P7 has many similarities when it comes to how they look. Whilst the previous models have all been on-ear headphones, this is the first over-ear model, designed to perfectly fit around the ears and over your head. The headband looks well cushioned with soft leather finish, and so does the earcups, thus allowing for extended listening periods without feeling uncomfortable. There is no active noise cancellation, but the design and materials used are said to provide an optimal natural noise cancellation effect.
Bowers & Wilkins also boast that the new P7 headphones have unique features in how they generate sound, claiming that due to the lighter materials used, which includes voice coils made from aluminium and copper compound, they can produce more precise and controlled sound with better high frequency dynamics.
Included with the P7 headphones is a detachable cable featuring remote control and microphone for use with smartphones. Current information indicates that we are talking about a cable compatible with Apple devices, but I would not be surprised if alternative and more universal cables will be included, or available as optional extra.
The new B&W P7 headphones are set for release this month with a UK retail price of £329, or $399 for US customers.
