The on-ear wireless headphone market is still a fairly young market, but like other wireless gadgets, it’s growing in popularity and the products on offer have improved a lot, including the new Bose Soundlink On Ear Bluetooth headphones.
Bose has long been at the forefront in delivering premium audio headphones, especially when it comes to noise cancelling, but more recently they have started extending their range as the headphone market has become more diverse, both in styles and use. The Soundlink On Ear is the second bluetooth pair they have delivered, but definitely the better looking of the options. As a portable headphone, it includes a foldable function for easy transportation and safe storage.
They have managed to keep the design fairly slim and lightweight, making them ideal for portable use. As expected, Bose have packed their premium audio technology into the Soundlink On Ear Bluetooth, including Triport and Active EQ technology. Battery time is of course important for wireless headphones, and Bose have included a rechargeable battery that provides up to 15 hours of play time between charges, and can be fully recharged in 90 minutes, or get 2 hours of playtime from a quick 15 minute charge. Should you run out of battery you can always use the included cable.
All control functions for both music and phone calls can be done from the earcup. Clever voice prompts also advise you on things like battery life and the caller id of incoming calls, which is useful for not having to look at the phone to see who is calling you. Lets face it, we all screen calls now and then, which makes this function handy.
First impression of the audio performance is very good. There’s some strong competitors in this marketplace, but the Bose Soundlink OE is another good alternative for those looking for a good quality, all round wireless headphone with a well balanced sound. TI hope to be back with a full review in the near future.
