The Bose SoundLink Air was first discovered while waiting for FCC approval, but the first AirPlay speaker from high-end AV company Bose is now avaialable on the UK market and ready to take up the fight in an increasingly versatile AirPlay speaker market.
For those familiar with the Bose iPod speakers, the design and finish of the SoundLink Air will be familiar. It is a classic Bose design, one that is tried and proven, but not necessarily cutting edge for those that are looking for something extra in the design department. That said, the SoundLink Air can be called timeless in its design. It is easy on the eye and versatile in size and where you could possibly place it.
Audio expectations are always high when it comes to Bose systems, but so far there is little information on the internal set up, other than that it features the same Bose Waveguide technology that is found in their other high-end systems. Streaming is of course done using Apple AirPlay technology, but you also have the option to use the 3.5mm line-in should you for some reason buy the SoundLink Air without owning an iOS device. If you are a true Bose fan, or have a deep wallet, you can also buy several of them for a multi-room set up. Bose is also offering a rechargeable battery as an optional extra (extra charge) should you want to take the device on the road with you.
I hope to be back with an extended review in the near future, but should you not want to wait, the Bose SoundLink Air is already available to buy from amongst other the below UK retailers.
