Bluetooth dock adapters for iPod, iPhone and iPad – turn any speaker dock wireless

The latest generation iOS devices with the Lightning Connector has caused some serious compatibility issues on the accessory market, and then especially when it comes to iPod/iPhone speaker docks. There is however a quick and affordable solution available; a bluetooth dock adapter.

Bluetooth dock adapters for iPhone and iPod have been around for year, but has been more of a specialty category until recently. With the introduction of the Lightning Connector new entrants have jumped on the growing market, which is great for us as consumers as prices are coming down and choice increases. When I bought my first dock adapter it was priced at £80+ but now you can get them for less than £20.

Here is an overview of some of the more popular bluetooth dock adapters on the UK market. One important note is that these bluetooth dock adapters only work with speaker docks that also can charge your iPod or iPhone.

Bluetooth Docking Station Music Receiver

Bose bluetooth adapterA favourite amongst users, promising compatibility with amongst other Bose, JBL and similar systems. Bluetooth V2.0, Supported Profiles A2DP and AVRCP, Frequency: 2.42-2.48 GHZ. When pairing, this device does require you to insert a pairing code (0000). Some other adapters running later versions of bluetooth supports pairing without code. Streaming distance is set as up to 10 meters.
