iPhone health and fitness apps that keep you motivated

After being dormant too long from the gym and physical exercise in general, a couple of months ago i got started again with my workout routines of running and going to the gym 4-5 times a week, and i have found some great allies in my iPhone and some of the many health and fitness related applications available to keep me motivated and pushing me that little extra.There are some great health and fitness related applications available for the iPhone and iPod Touch at the moment, both to help you keep track of progress, weightloss, bulking up, or in general help you keep motivated and going with your exercise routines. I have been testing out a few of them over the last few weeks and the following apps have become some of my most regularly used apps on my iPhone and iPod Touch.Nike+Now this has been around for a while and comes built in with both the 2nd gen iPod Touch and the iPhone 3G/iPhone 3G S, but it remains a great application for running. Recently i had to invest in some new running shoes so ended up getting the new Nike Lunar shoes, which combined with the Nike+ chip and my iPhone has become a must have on every run i make. To take full advantage of the Nike+ app make sure to utilize all the features of the website, including creating your own running avatar to share on Facebook or to set as your screensaver. A great way to keep motivated and keep running!Nike+ iPod and iPhone appiFitnessOne of the most popular health and fitness apps on the iTunes App Store, and i can understand why. This app is great for both beginners and more advanced gym goers. It features a large library of illustrated exercises for every muscle, allowing you to create variety in your workouts, and to find the exercises to work the best for you. Combine different exercises into a personalized workout regime and keep a log of progress as you see your fitness levels improve with time. Wondering how to get started? There is also a selection of routines already set up in the app, such as the beginner program, the abdominal defining program, weight loss program, and a few more. The iFitness app also includes a weight monitor and a BMI calculator, allowing you to monitor your weightloss as you go along. The iFitness app has something for everyone at every level who wants to get started improving their overall fitness level.iFitness app for iPod and iPhoneDownload iFitness App from iTunes App Store.Gym ABCThis is a good free alternative to the iFitness app if you are looking for a library of exercises and being able to set up your favourite routines. It features some nice animated videos showing how the exercise is correctly done. It does not have the same functionality in terms of creating an exercise log, but if that is not important it is a good alternative. The app also features some good calculators, such as BMI (expected), target heart rate, daily energy expenditure, and calculating your body fat percentage.Gym Goals iPhone and iPod appDownload Gym Goal ABS from iTunes App Store.GetRunningNow i am glad to say that i have gotten past needing this app for its original purpose, but this is a great app and motivator to help you get off the couch and work towards being able to run 5k. Over the course of 9 weeks this app uses a complete training program to help you get started towards the goal of running 5k after the 9 weeks.   2. Have someone that leans too far fwd during lunges? Put the weight on the front, like the video below, and the person will have to pull their body upright to fight the weight.

    This good app has been banned from the shops and I will have to subsitute it by All-in Fitness app with quite rich content and user-friendly training modes.
