BA takes the iPad into the sky

It has taken airlines some time to realize the potential of mobile devices for in-flight service, but thanks to the Apple iPad this is about to change. British Airways is the latest airline to start testing use of Apple iPads amongst in-flight crew to improve customer service.

BA testing in-flight iPads

British Airways is looking to test using iPads in-flights following positive feedback from crew members that have tested. The devices will be loaded with useful information for the flight crew, including passenger manifests loaded with customer information, helping flight crew understand who is sitting where, their meal preferences, frequent flyer status, and other preferences that should help provide a better experience for travellers.

With BA flights being equipped with wireless networks the iPads can also provide additional information to the flight crew while in the air.

It will also be interesting to see how technology might change how we communicate while in-flight, as i can easily see services popping up that takes advantage of wireless connectivity to enhance communication between passenger and flight crew.

Might have to consider flying BA next time i take to the air.
