After launching a Kickstarter project for a bluetooth docking adapter a while back, before pulling it, Auris is now back with a new version in the Skye AirPlay/DLNA dock adapter, providing an alternative to the Dolry HiFi Stone.
The Skye adapter uses Apple’s lossless audio technology, and with DLNA support as well, it is friendly with Android devices supporting DLNA as well. Design wise it looks nice, showcased in white or black. The key to these adapters is that they blend in with speaker dock, and that functionality and stability is good. Plus, bluetooth streaming has improved over the years, so the difference between AirPlay streaming and some newer Bluetooth adapters is not as big as it used to be. That means that price needs to be competitive for the Skye to become a success.
At the moment the Auris Skye is only available on Kickstarter for pre-orders, but expected to hit the wider market in December at $89.
