Not everyone likes to stand out from the crowd sporting large and colorful designer headphones, but that does not mean that they value sound any less. The Audio Technica ATH-ES55 portable headphones might not be as stylish as some of its more fashionable competitors, but according to the experts and the public, they make up for it in performance.
When i say that the Audio Technica ATH-ES55 are not as fashionable as some of the other headphones in its class, that does not mean that they are not a good looking pair of headphones, because they are. Designed for portability they are subtle and to the point in design, focusing on comfort and performance.
Comfort is of course a very important factor for portable headphones as you are likely to use them quite often, and equally important is of course the sound. The Audio Technica ATH-ES55 headphones got the What HiFi award for best portable on-ear headphones up to £100 in 2010, and they got it because of their ‘great balance and transparency to the sound’. They are also generally well received by consumers at Amazon UK with a near perfect customer review rating. I have not yet had the pleasure of a ears-on test of the Audio Technica ATH-ES55, but will be back with a full review and rating.
The Audio Technica ATH-ES55 portable headphones are currently available from amongst other the following UK retailers:
