Arise Sir iPod! Jonathan Ive gets knighthood

Apple’s head of design and the man behind the iPod and many other Apple designs, Jonathan Ive, was awarded a knighthood by the Queen in the New Years Honours list and can now officially announce himself as Sir Jonathan Ive.

Ive received a KBE (Knight Commander of the British Empire) for his services to British design. Sir Jonathan Ive was born in February 1967, the son of a silversmith, and quickly displayed an interest in design, graduating from Newcastle Polytechnic and quickly getting discovered by Apple following work he did for them while working at design agency Tangerine.

Together with Steve Jobs he formed a formidable partnership that has resulted in some of the most regarded products in the global market, such as the iPod, iPhone and the iPad.

Sir Jonathan Ive was also recognized for his services in 2005 when he was awarded a CBE.
